Best movie of the weekend...and no, it wasn't New Moon

LOVED this movie!

I dare say that it is better than New Moon.

Yes, that's right. I said it.

Although I am a Vamp groupie, and will definitely be seeing New Moon again, The Blind Side had a lovely message and I left the theater with a full heart.

I would recommend seeing it to anyone and everyone!

Dumb hole

Thanks to my stupid, awfully timed oral surgery, we had to put our vacation off for a few days.

OK, I am going to get all super technical on ya, so follow closely...
I had to have it explained to me a couple of times. No, not because I am stupid...I was just hoping the outcome would change and I could still go on vacation. Okay, so that does sound like I am stupid. But I promise you...I am not! ☺

Anyways...during my oral surgery they had to pull out the roots a tooth. Normally, that's not too big of a deal, but when this happened, a piece of bone came out with the root.
Yeah, that bone...separated my mouth from my nose...sort of.
It now means that I have a hole in my sinus cavity and that is not good. If I gargle (which I am NOT supposed to), the liquid comes out my nose. Totally gross, but reminded me of this HILARIOUS clip from The Heartbreak Kid (fast forward to 6:00 in).

Long story short (or not so short) - I can't fly until the 'temporary fix it' he used heals up a bit, so we're pushing back our take off a day or two. Hopefully we'll be out of here by Wednesday??

Cross your fingers for me, okay? There are spa services down there just waiting for me to take advantage of them, and I would want to disappoint them.

Decimals are important

This morning as I checked my credit card online, I thought the numbers looked a little off.
After a call to the customer service, turns out they were more than a little off. Rather than charging my card $50 for a security hold, the guy at the front desk of the hotel last weekend charged my card $5000!
The hotel was nice, but definitely not that nice! I am assuming that he forgot a decimal in there somewhere...or that he just didn't like us very much. Wait, that's impossible. Definitely the decimal. ☺

Happy Friday all...I'll spend most of mine counting down to New Moon 4:30!!!

I don't do cookies

I've been invited to a cookie exchange the first week in December and I am at a total loss for a recipe.
You see, I am the anti-Betty Crocker. I barely know my way around the kitchen. I cannot bake.
I am up against some ladies who could rival Martha in the baking department, so I can't show up with cookies that look like they were made by a preschooler and taste like play dough smothered in chocolate.
So, I really need your help. What are your go-to, fabulous looking, deliciously tasting, but easy to make holiday cookie recipes?

I know it seems a bit early for holiday baking talk, but I need plenty of time to run a few taste batches before the big game day arrives. Gotta play it safe ladies!

I can't look like a chump here...come through for me, okay? ☺

Nothing some ice cream can't fix

A freak incident yesterday landed me in a days worth of doctors appointments that ended in some painful oral surgery.
So here I am, wide awake since 1:30AM, looking like a chipmunk and in tons of pain.
I could really use some baby-ing, but my boyfriend happens to be feeling really under the weather as well, so it looks like we are each on our own.
So in lieu of some TLC from my boyfriend I have turned to several helpings of Baskin Robbins Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream (YUM!!), my trusty ice packs and my new lover, Percocet, for some much needed comfort.
Yes, I am having a pity party...attendees: just one.
Let me pop another handful of pills, suck down some more ice cream, zone out in front of a dozen or so Sex and the City episodes and I should be feeling good as new in no time!

Instant pick-me-up

Regardless of how down, tired or pissed off I may be, this album ALWAYS brightens up my mood.
My favorite is Buffalo Soldier with Three Little Birds as a close second.
Go ahead, click on the links and take a listen. You'll be relaxed in no time.
What is your go-to pick-me up? Do share. ☺

Portland was a success!

I scored some major finds over the weekend in Portland. I ALWAYS hit the Forever 21 down there. I don't know why, but their jewelery selection is usually better than the stuff available up here. Go figure! My favorite F21 buys this trip were these leaf necklaces. One in gold, one is silver.

My boyfriend was feeling especially loving and generous because he spoiled me with one of these. Lovely, I think. I just need to get a nice chain that matches.
We also saw 2012, which I ended up liking a lot more than I thought I would. Not completely believable, but definitely interesting and made you think. Woody Harrelson cracked me up!

An entire weekend with two teenage girls sure left me drained though...and walking away feeling super old! We definitely had a great time, but think that next time we will opt for a more slower paced, 'older person' trip, sans the giggly, hyper energized teens!

The party hits the road

Cutting out of work early to head south for a long weekend. My boyfriend's sister just turned 18 and for her BD she wanted to go to Portland with a friend...and us, of course!

We'll be doing a little lot of shopping, seeing the movie 2012 (and I hope to see NY, I Love You too...can you believe that I STILL haven't seen it!?!), feeding our faces and whatever else comes our way...until Sunday night.
I'll be doing a lot of studying on the drive...I have a BIG exam on Monday.
Happy Friday to all my lovies out there! Yes, this means you. ☺

Wishful Wednesday...on Thursday. Oops!

I thought I'd join in on Kelsey's Wishful Wednesday this week (a day late!)because this week's topic is something that I've thought of plenty o' times!
The topic for this week is:

'I wish' .... I never had to do _______ again!

What is the one chore/task you wish a fairy would wave a wand over and wha-la, it's done for you!

It is absolutely no secret that I abhor cleaning. Of any kind.

But one type of cleaning really send me over the edge...cleaning the bathroom.

I don't know if it stems from growing up in a house full of boys or what, but this is definitely one task that I could definitely give up. No, really, I would.
However, I don't particularly mind vacuuming, so all you vacuum-haters out there...wanna switch? I'll vacuum for you...you scrub the loo for me?

Ick or Interesting??

Last night we went to see Bodies...The Exhibition downtown.
Since I am studying Anatomy & Physiology right now, I was really excited to check it out. My boyfriend on the other hand...not so much.
The exhibit was thorough, but not as expansive at I thought it would have been. I was definitely glad we went though!
Originally we'd had plans for Sushi after, but after Mandy saw Bodies over the weekend and advised against following it with Sushi, we opted for good ol' Cheesecake Factory instead.
Anyone else seen Bodies? What's your take on it...Icky or Interesting?

Bought it!

I made a quick stop on my way to work this morning (@ 5:30 AM!!) to make a special little purchase.
What could have been so important that I had to buy it at that hour in the morning?

New Moon tickets for me and a couple friends!! I hope those little ticket machines don't have cameras in them. I'm a tiny bit embarrassed to be caught buying New Moon tickets early in the morning.

I'd heard a rumor at school the night before that tickets at this specific theater were close to being sold out on opening day. It pays to know people who have little sisters who work at the movie theater. ☺
I just have to see New Moon on its opening day. So much, that I postponed a dinner date with friends so that I could make the 5:00 showing. As pathetic as many may think this sounds, I don't care!
Anyone else pre-buy tickets, or are you just going to do what normal people do and buy them as you arrive at the theater?

Today is a fantabulous Monday!

In a sea of Monday-haters, I am in absolute love with my Monday!!
As far as I am concerned, this is a great way to start off a week...

  • I got an A-OK from my gyne for another year
  • a sweet old man paid for my oatmeal at Starbucks because 'my smile brightened his day'
  • my car guy called from the VW dealership and says he has a great trade in deal for me

Anyone else having a remarkably great Monday?

I think I'll make my way there tonight. Hopefully I will score some great finds to share with you.

A worthy sequel??

Looks like the three men's little lady is on her way to becoming a bride! Or at least that is what Steve Guttenberg says about the upcoming Three Men and a Bride.
It's been so long since I've seen the first one, Three Men and a Baby, I don't remember too much about it, and I don't recall anything about the second one, Three Men and a Little Lady. Looks like I'll be adding them to my Netflix for a little refresher.
You all know I'm a big movie goer, so I'll definitely be seeing it. Although I can't say it'll be at the top of my list.
Any of you out there think the third movie is worth seeing?

I am broken

Yesterday evening I went to grab to school bag out of my trunk and seriously jacked up my back. I immediately collapsed against the car and felt like the wind had been knocked out of me.
And yes, I had an audience for this, so I was completely embarrassed by my overly theatrical performance.

After a few minutes I realized that with the pain there was no way I was going to class, so I putted my way back home to my Biofreeze, ice pack and restless night of sleep.
So here I am at work switching between my heating pad and ice, wishing I would have stayed home. I think I may cut out of here early and return to bed to recoup.
What lesson comes from this? If your school bag is so heavy you throw your back out when extracting it from the trunk
a.) you ought to get one of those roller backpacks to put your stuff in (ugh, I know!!!)
b.) you are getting to be an old lady
c.) you should try not to do it in a parking garage full of people next time
Um, how about all of the above!?! ☺
