My blow dryer blew her last blow this morning. Actually it was more of a cough, cough, chug, wheeze and then nothing.I've known she was going to croak for some time, but I've been begging her to hang on. Now I've waited too long and am in a pinch for a new blower.
I've heard all kinds of rave reviews about those pricey dryers...they dry your hair so much faster...they leave your hair with less frizz...your hair feels so softer after using them...they have magic ceramic parts that make them worth paying $200 for...blah, blah, blah.
But really, is there a difference? I can totally see spending more on a flat iron {I ♥ my T3 flat iron and curling iron} but I just don't see how one blow dryer can really be that different that dramatically different from another and worth upwards of $200.
Fill me in...do I need to splurge? Will I have unbelievably amazing hair if I do?
*I was toying with using some kind of bj reference in my title, but wussed out. Lame!!

i've never used one of those fancypants hair dryers, but i can vouch for my Conair Quiet Styler. it dries just as fast as the dryers that sound like jet engines, only it's much easier on the eardrums.
I don't have a $200 blow dryer, but mine's a bit nicer than what you'd buy at Walmart. I have a Conair Silver Bird that I got at Sally Beauty for around $40. It gets the job done faster and is quite a bit sturdier (and never smells like it's about to catch on fire).
I think a good blow dryer is an investment. Because: chances are it will also last longer than a cheap one And it will hopefully have more power (which is important), as more power means it will dry your hair faster which will cause less damage to hair :)
I went through this thought process when mine died about 6 months ago and I ended up getting a $20-30 Conair that I love to pieces.
My entry on it.
Hope that helps!
I have the Chi and it is such a great hairdryer. I think it is worth the splurge for the heat, quietness and lightness of the actual dryer :) Good luck!
I've been wondering about the expensive hair dryers, too. If they work that much better and faster, I'll be happy to get one, but I don't know anyone who has one to ask about it.
I hope you let us know if you get one and how you like it!
I have a Chi flat iron, but I have no use for an expensive blow dryer. My $20 one from Target has lasted forever.
I totally would have laughed ay a BJ reference.
